Urban Saints Grand Day Out

Urban Saints Grand Day Out

On Saturday 7th May, some of the young people from the Liphook Urban Saints Rock Solid group joined 350 other young people for a 'Grand Day Out' to Westbrook on the Isle of Wight. After an exciting hovercraft journey to the island from Southsea, we were met by coaches that took us to the Urban Saints Centre. The day then consisted of loads of different activities that were open to all. There was a popular gyro machine that turned you round and round as well as up-side down! All enjoyed having a go on this (except the leaders!). There were 3 large inflatables - a bouncy castle, a giant slide and a horizontal bungy challenge. There was a chance to shoot at targets using air rifles, as well as a giant sling for hurling water balloons. There was a climbing wall, football, basketball, adventure games, remote controlled cars, trampolines.... as well as a tuckshop and BBQ! In the middle of the day there was a short meeting when we all gathered in the marquee to sing, pray and have a short talk about living meaningful lives to the full.

This trip takes place every 2 years and I was really pleased that we were able to go once again. All the young people had a fantastic time, which was rounded off nicely with ice cream and candy floss at Southsea beach, before we returned to Liphook.
