Liphook Junior (C of E) School

Many of you know that the original village school (in Bramshott) was founded by a trust funded by the estate of the Revd John Monkhouse in the first half of the 19th century. The infant school (in Liphook) was established later in response to the 1870 Education Act. The local church retained a measure of involvement in the Junior School when the state took responsibility for many of our church schools in the 1940s. Currently the Governing Body includes staff, parents, local authority and church nominated members. We have two Foundation Governors: one is the Rector (ex-officio) and the other a PCC nomination, endorsed by the Diocesan Board of Education. For the last 7 years Neil Newitt has been one of our foundation governors. He has worked tirelessly for the school and has helped in a number of areas of school development; particularly in finance and recruitment of staff. Neil has reached the point where he needs to take a well-earned break and he leaves the governors at Liphook Junior on 31st March. Thank you Neil, on behalf of the school, the children and the local church family.
