Worship
Worship Is a Life Style
Our sole purpose and design is to give glory to God, to Praise Him because He alone is worthy of praise. Whether singing in a choir, leading a worship band or singing within a congregation, our purpose and design is to glorify the King of Glory, Christ the King; to worship Him because of who He is, and to Praise Him for what He has done.
But our worship is so much more than just about singing a beautiful melody interplayed with eloquent words. Our worship is about the offering of ourselves to God; it is the giving of oneself, but most of all true worship concerns the attitude of the heart.
Romans 12 says,
'Therefore, I urge you brothers in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices holy and pleasing to God, this is your spiritual act of worship'.
Worship is the overflow of our hearts, expressing our relationship with Jesus, and sharing our life's walk with Him. When we capture the vision of who the King of Glory is, a response is demanded. When we respond in this way it is because he has revealed himself to us. Our outward expression of worship must be an overflow of the gratitude of our heart, only then can we begin to see the King of Glory for who he really is. Here at the Church Centre we aim to live in this way, expressing our love and thankfulness in a way that will give Glory and Honour to Christ the King.
'True Christian worship does not rise or fall according to human will, for there is only one object of worship worthy of humanity and that is God. I wish I could adequately describe the glory of the object we are to worship. If we could set forth a thousand attributes of a God who is dwelling unapproachable light where no mortal man can see him and live, fully eternal, omniscient, omnipotent and sovereign, we would be greatly humbled'.
AW Tozer
1 Chronicles 16 v 23-25
'Sing to the Lord all the earth; Proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, His marvellous deeds among all people, for great is the Lord and most worthy of praise'.
